THE CRISIS TEAM
The Crisis Team represents the emotional support system of NCSSAR. During a search, this team assists the friends, loved ones, and family members of missing persons by providing them with privacy, food, water, a place to rest, or other amenities. They may also provide spiritual support through prayer, meditation, or simply an overall comforting presence to anyone affected by the search. They are careful listeners who “hold the space” while also lending an ear to any information that may be valuable to the search effort.

If follow-up assistance is requested, the Crisis Team acts as a link to Nevada County by offering families grief counseling or other resources. It also acts as a support system for fellow searchers as they cope with the potential stress and intensive emotions involved with a search.

WHAT IT TAKES...
Anyone involved in NCSSAR can join the Crisis Team if they are interested. Team members are required to attend crisis-oriented courses and obtain field experience. More importantly, possessing an emotionally balanced personality is required, along with the ability to take on the emotional stress of this aspect of the search.
